Sacred Heart Mundaring

At Sacred Heart School we remember the history and traditions of the Sisters of Saint Joseph of the Apparition and the Sisters of Saint Joseph of the Sacred Heart ‘relieving suffering and bringing hope to all with the desire to accomplish God’s will’

Our school motto calls each of us to strive and challenge ourselves and others;

‘to learn   ,to care,   to give’

Health & Physical Education

At Sacred Heart School our Health and Physical Education program provides students with an understanding of health issues and the skills required for confident participation in sporting activities. Thus our students are able to make responsible decisions about their health and physical activities and promote their own and others’ health and wellbeing.

Our Physical Education program is lively and energetic catering for a variety of sport codes throughout the year. In term one our focus is on learning the skills in Cricket, Hockey and Tennis. The children also learn skipping skills in preparation for our participation in ‘Jump Rope for Heart’.

During term two we concentrate on Basketball, Soccer, Netball, AFL and Volleyball to cater for our Interschool Lightning Carnival. We also have our Faction and Inter School Cross Country competitions during this term. We belong to the Catholic Schools Sports Association which comprises two groups:
Eastern Region
Mary's Mount, Matthew Gibney, St Maria Goretti's St Michael's and Sacred Heart South Region
St Augustine's, St Jude's, Santa Clara, Xavier and Good Sheperd

In term three our focus turns to Athletics and all children prepare for our Faction and Interschool Athletics Carnivals. We regularly practise sprinting, endurance running, long and triple jumps, long distance throwing and team games.

Term four is winding down season with lots of fun filled minor games whilst focussing on sportsmanship, playing by the rules and effective collaboration. Our foci for this term are Tee Ball, Continuous Cricket, Mini Volleyball and Badminton.
